=o=CAT~

Okay so growing up, matt and i were both raised in homes with lots of critters around..cats,dogs, turtles etc.. now that we are on our own weve found that something is missing..animals :0) yes i know we have the weasle but he doesnt count..he doesnt sit in your lap when you watch a movie or sleep at the end of the bed at night..he cant even sit still long enought to pet him for very long..although he is getting better with that :)So matt and i have been taking frequent trips to the Chico Animal Shelter to hang out with the kittys while theyre stuck in a boring room full of other cats. Everytime we go, we are SO tempted just to take one and give it a good home..poor things. Weve been holding back though because there are 4 cats at matts parents house in bako and one of them (ninja) will be coming home with us the next time we visit :0) so were looking forward to that! i do have a question though: Do you think its mean to keep an indoor cat in a small one bedroom appartment?? i figure it would be if we were getting a dog or something because they need space but a kitty? hmmm

we MOVED!

Weve been looking for a better appartment since we got here and didnt have much luck for a while..little did we know that something better was right under our noses :0) one day i was riding my bike around our neihborhood and found the cutest place right down the street! i noticed it was empty so i went and asked chris, our landlord about it..it was available and he said hed give us a good deal if we decided to take it because he had just sold the appartment complex we lived in at the time and still wanted us as tenants..this was at the beginning of february and we had just paid rent for the month so we were going to wait until the next month to make our move..the new owners of our appt. complex were crappy and would wake us up every morning while they banged around upstairs 'remodeling' the appartment above us..that was pleasant..like our crazy neighbors werent noisy enough? anyways..the last straw was when they turned the power off in the vacant appartments and accidentally turned ours off in the process! when we called them to fix there mistake they said that they couldnt come do it until monday..this happened saturday a.m! i dont know about you but i prefer having electricity in my home ..to make a long story short alot of phone calls were made and i had a very frustrated hubby. They finally sent someone to fix the problem. That wasnt fun. SO we decided to move into the other appartment that next week :0) we like it alot..its single level so we dont here ppl stomping around above us, its secluded and surrounded by trees so theres more privacy and its bigger inside which is nice :0)

being sick=no fun

There are two SuperCuts locations in chico and one of the stores has had alot of stylists quit in the last month and needed more employees so they decided to stick me over there which is fine..the only problem was that everyone that works there is sick! SO of course i caught what they had and ive been sick with a crappy case of the flu for the past week and im still getting over it...yuck. I hate being sick! And the timing was horrible because weve been trying to move into our new appartment...needless to say poor matt has done more than his share of moving and hauling..i love that boy!

New Car

Im sure most of you know the story of why we only had one car when we were married ;0) and with both of us having conflicting work schedules and Matt also going to school we soon realized that we needed another car...and then the search began :0) at first we were just going to get a clunker that would get me from point A to point B so we looked on craigslist,Auto trader and every other place you can think of for something that would work..at first we were going to buy an old BMW which i was totally fine with but then decided that we dont want to get something that we would need constant fixing SO we started looking for something a little nicer and more reliable and fell in love with the new beetle! Its a 2002 RED limited edition turboSport 6-speed in excellent condition with a sunroof, two tone black/grey leather bucket seats and 210 horsepower! its fast and so fun to drive! the guy selling it lived in the Bay Area so we took a trip down there and decided to get it..the payments arent that bad and i dont mind driving this car for a looong time :0)

Valentines Day aDvEnTuRe

So one day i was cutting some old guys hair and was told about this 'huge waterfall' you can hike up to about 30min away from chico called Feather Falls..it sounded pretty cool to me so i started asking around about it and most of the ppl said that they havent hiked it because they heard it was a really hard trail..so that night i told matt about it and we decided to go on an aDvEnTuRe for valentines day :0) It had been raining earlier in the week so we were afraid that it would be rainy and muddy but we were pleasantly supprised when we woke up to discover a beautiful day perfect for hiking :0)The hike was 8.5 miles round trip and although difficult it was one of the best hikes ive ever been on! Along the way there were smaller waterfalls to see..bridges to cross and awesome views! when we got to the falls there were salamanders all over because of the moisture and of course..i HAD to pick them up ;0) I was suprised how big the waterfall actually was..its 640 feet tall! Matt got mad at me as i tried to climb closer and closer to it..we started heading back when the rain clouds started coming in..the trail back was WAY harder than the one we came on because it was ALL UP HILL!! my favorite :0/ but it was still fun..it was definately a good, much needed workout! :0)
So, i was told that i had fallen off the face of the planet since Matt and i got married so i figured that this blog thing wasnt such a bad idea to help keep my family and friends updated about my new life as the married Mrs. Tenille Gates :0) Well first of all, Matt and i couldnt be happier together!!! Since we moved up North to Chico "real life" has come into
play and weve been working(me at SuperCuts and Matt at Jiffy-Lube) while Matt goes to school at Butte College. Chico is a very pretty place..its green with alot of trees (foreign objects to Bakersfieldians) ;0)Needless to say we find ourselves trying to get outdoors as much as possible. Theres a 3,600 acre mountain area called Bidwell Park around the corner from us..we go there to hike along the river and explore..i heard there are some old indian caves there that we've yet to discover. Last week it was really windy so we went there to try out our kite-flying skills and play Bocce Ball!! it was fun stuff :0) Our ward here is a pretty good one. We already have callings..Matt is a Scout leader and i teach in Primary. Its been a good experience so far and those kids sure keep me busy...i think well wait quite a while before we have one of those ;0) Anyways im off to go cut some hair at work..ta ta for now!
