Our Visitors

So a couple weeks ago (im a slacker..i know)Matt and i finally got some visitors here in Chico! Matts parents and brother came down to see us :0) They finally got to see our apartment and also got the grand tour of Chico ;0) We went out to dinner together and had alot of fun chatting and spending time together.

The next day we decided to show them what we like most about living here...the MoUnTaInS!! We all went to Deer Creek and went fishing of course!(Were determined to get the Gates hooked on fishin'):0)

..Heres me teaching Andrew how to tie a fly.^^^
..Dad Gates has mad casting skills ;0)

Dad got to try out his new fly pole and caught his first fish on it!

It was alot of fun to be around family..i wish we got to see the fam more often! We had a little picnic when we were done fishing and then they hit the road back to Bako.

We were sad to see them go but glad they came to see us! After they left we had MORE visitors! My sister Tara and her family were on their way to Mount Shasta for a Krumm family reunion and needed a place to crash for the night! So Tara, Jacob and their 5 rugrats crammed into our tiny appartment for the night...lets just say it was cozy ;0)We ordered pizza and had fun catching up. Then we decided to take the kids to the park for a while.

..I think Jacob had more fun on the toys than the kids did..LOL My brother-in-law is awesome :0) After that everyone was pretty tired so we headed back to the appartment and winded down. Little Lu-Lu had 'fun' with the children..Ive never seen her hide so much :0)

They headed to Mount Shasta in the morning and spent the week there..heres a pic from their camping trip..

Anywho it was a pretty busy weekend for us but theres nothing better than hanging out with Family!! And for the record: If anyone wants to come up here to visit..you are welcome to do so AND you have a place to stay :0)

Road Trip

So Matt and I decided to explore NOR-CAL a little on our day off together..We heard about this "awesome fishing spot" called (Hat Creek) and decided to go check it out even though it was a couple hours away. Lassen Volcanic National Park was on the way to our destination and we had to pay TEN bucks just to drive through it!!! I was pretty mad at first..considering we weren't staying in Lassen BUT it was absolutely gorgeous there so i guess it was worth the 10 bones :0) here are some pics of Lassen...

...So we get out of Lassen and drive about 30 more minutes until we finally found 'Hat Creek' which I have nicknamed 'CRAP creek' becuase it was a dump! We get there and it was a stagnet irrigation canal out in the middle of nowhere with 5 shirtless fat guys in lawn chairs fishing!!! We gave it a BIG thumbs down and decided to go elsewhere. We took out our handy dandy atlas and found that a place called Burney Falls was only a half hour away..we figured that there would be some pretty good water there so we were back on the road again :0) When we got there we were relieved because it was SO beautiful..unlike our last stop ;0) We were so ready to get out of the car and FISH! We put our poles together and hiked down a damp trail to the waterfall..which happened to be breathtaking!

The mist from the waterfall felt so good on my face and i relaxed in the sun with my hubby for a while..those are the moments that make our little vacations ;0)

I didnt know if i would catch any fish under the falls BUT i couldnt resist fishing such a pretty hole... it was a good thing that Matt and i brought our new video camera with us to try out because i caught a couple HUGE Rainbow trout!! The second one i caught was a 14 incher! It was so amaizing..check it out!

That totally made the trip worth it..catching a fish is one of the greatest feelings in the world!!..i know..im a dork ;0)

Matt decided to throw his line in after that but i must've scared all the fish away cause we had no such luck after that..we both got alot of strikes but no fish..look how handsome my husband is ;0)

After a long day of fishing (we left at 6:00) We were starving and both of us were craving tri-tip sandwiches! We didnt think wed find a BBQ joint in the tiny town of Burney,CA but we DID!!! The sandwiches definitely hit the spot and we were very satisfied..YUMMY :0)Then we were on the road again headed back to good ol' Chico..We drove through Redding and i have to say..its a nice little town! There are lots of trees and the city is alot bigger than Chico..which is nice. They even had a Macys there so i got some MAC stuff before we left :0) Anywho we made it home after a day full of fun, adventure and FISH :0)

In Memory of...

August 10,2007~ President James E. Faust, a beloved member of the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, died of natural causes peacefully in his home this morning surrounded by his loving family. Such an extraordinary man will be missed deeply by all.. I ,for one, am so greatful for all of the wise council i have received from him throughout the years..My heart goes out to the Faust family at this time..may they find peace from our Heavenly Father.

Lost Wedding Band

So one day Matt and I decided to go to the mountains and swim in the river. We hiked around until we found a nice deep swimming hole..which was only accessible if you climbed down this really steep cliff. We were both in sandals and therefore almost tumbled down the mountain a couple times..SO we finally get there and get in the water..The pool was pretty big and deep.

We swam around for a while and had some fun. There were a million little fish in the pool and they would follow us around and nibble at our legs..i was fine with it until the little fish's big brothers came and started nibbling too..it kinda hurt! Anywho now we get to the good part..SO after were done swimming and we get out, Matt looked at his hand and started freaking out..guess what...his wedding ring was GONE!!! He was pretty sure that he had it on before we went swimming! We didnt want to panic so we calmly got back in the water and started searching.....nothing.

It was getting dark so we left and decided to go back the next day to continue the search. We went and bought goggles that night to bring with us next time..Matt woke up at 4am that morning and decided to drive down there and look for it as soon as the sun came up...no luck...he came home soaking wet and cold :0( We both had to work that day SO after we got off, we grabbed the goggles and headed to the river. We could see really well with the goggles in the water...There were huge boulders everywhere and big logs...it kinda creeped me out to tell you the truth..ive always thought that stuff in the water was erie.We searched for an hour or so..Im pretty sure we covered every inch of that place..heres me in action :0)

SO to make a long story short..we didnt find it in that swimming hole..we were pretty sad until later that night at home..We found it in our room!!..it must have slipped off and without Matt noticing! We were SO relieved and Matt was no longer in the dog house ;0) I just laugh at the thought of floating around in that river for hours and climbing up and down that CLIFF a million times all for nothing LOL kinda humorous I guess you could call it spending quality time with my husband :0)

...Nice goggles huh? hahah
